A word from the Head of the Emergency Medicine Department

The duration of the study in the college's emergency medicine specialist program is five years, including the preparatory year program, including the concession period. This program aims to prepare students to become eligible health care for pre-hospital ambulance or emergency room, as well as to develop and activate the highest standards of patient care. Students go through challenges that require them to be able to properly assess the condition of patients and to have competence in cardiac resuscitation and basic and elaborate methods of life-saving to deal with a variety of internal and external injuries and emergency situations including children and newborns.
The program focuses on developing students' skills in identifying signs of illnesses and injuries and knowing the proper procedures to follow when performing medical aid. All students in the program receive extensive training from the third to the advanced level, using advanced equipment and facilities, and using advanced computers and dolls and the latest versions of medical books in this field.
Students are provided with the necessary information that enables them to successfully pass international accreditation tests in Advanced Cardiac Resuscitation (ACLS), pre-hospital rescue procedures (PHTLS), the life-saving course for children (PALS, pulmonary resuscitation (BLS), life support course, and injuries) (ITLS) Students graduating from this program are granted a bachelor’s degree in emergency medical services, and the program has been accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
